If you click on View Record there's an option to add comments and corrections under Page Tools at the top left. You can't currently add corrections for places though. |

Also, Joyce, don't hold your breath for them to change it SOON because that message has been there for years! |

I'd forget that comments thing. My experience is they take so long to load I don't bother. And there's no indication on the records there even is a comment, as I recall. |

Actually, they normally acknowledge corrections to names within a week or so. |

I have a rellie who changed where she was born on almost every census record! What or who was she hiding from I wonder! To me that is part of the puzzle and fascination of genealogy |

If the census record states that her birthplace was Devon, there is no blame to be laid at Ancestry's door....they transcribe the info as they see it. |

Is she actually in Devon at the time or were her siblings born there? If thats the case then it would be a simple mistake with dittos or whatever. |

Sometimes the ancestry index has been transcribed incorrectly, for example the transcriber might have taken the place of birth from a previous name higher up the page in error. I have come across this on a few occasions. |

You might find that she was not sure where she was born. One of mine showed as being born in Sevenoaks, Kent. He was actually born in Lewes, Sussex, but the family had moved to Sevenoaks when he was about one year old. |
