I have had Ad-Aware on my comp for years, just recently i was asked to remove old download and replace it with a newer version. |

The best way to deal with this would be to "remove" it as a programme - go to "Add or Remove" programmes via you "Control Panel", of course it will stop any scanning at all. |

Easiest way to do this,go to START then RUN and type msconfig into the box & hit ok or press enter, click on the startup tab, find AdAware & uncheck the box then hit ok,it'll ask you to restart your computer. |

Just to add to that, when you open adaware,on the left pane click on scan, then click on scheduler,& if any scheduled tasks appear, just delete them. |

Alternatively you might want to re-schedule the scan to run automatically in the early hours of the morning. |
