Hi Glen in Tinsel Knickers
Love the name btw.
I have just looked at Carol's website and I'm gobsmacked !! I've sent her a message, I wasn't sure if it was her own company, but you have confirmed that for me. I feel like a kid in a sweet shop !!!!!!
Cheers for the reply Paula

You would be just as well getting in touch with Carol from the post above.
Ron and Carol can produce some pretty impressive results when it comes to tree printing and they are highly recommended amongst GR members who have used their services.

Hi Again
Thanks for all that info. I have used adobe to look at the tree, of what I can see of it !!
I am running 2005 edition of FTM. I have had a look on the Ancestry website and noticed that they have an add on pack for family tree printing.
I've been playing around with various display styles all day and it has nearly sent me round the twist. Although I think I may take a closer look at the 2 programs that Carol has suggested to get a comparison.
Are any of the later versions of FTM any better and do they offer any other features.
Cheers for now

FTM's All in One is a pretty poor looking tree.
When you design a tree in FTM it will use a default font size of 6 which is minute, even worse when you save it to PDF the program has a maximum page size limit of 54 inches so if your tree is larger than that then it will be shrunk onto a page of 54 inches in size, it's okay for looking at but absolutely useless for printing.
We do not use FTM for printing All in One trees we use Genbox or Family Historian both of these programs are far superior to FTM when it comes to designing and printing the All in One.

FTM is one of the few programmes that can print an "all in one" tree. Which version are you using?
In 2005 and 2006; Some of the pages within the document will be blank besuase of the differeing number of generations in the different lines displayed.
When you preview the tree (within FTM) it will tell you how many pages the tree will cover when printed
Have you selected the individuals to include, the maximum number of generations, the info you want to display within the boxes, and the layout/style. All these.items can be changed in the boxes on the right of the tree chart screen.

Hi Folks
Somebody has very kindly offered to print my whole tree on a special sort of printer that uses what is essentially a never-ending sheet of paper, so there is no maximum amount of information you are limited to.
To start with I have just had a trial run with just my husbands direct ascendents only, which is not to be sniffed at in numbers. I didn't include any siblings or other ancestors and their branches and the result is that it's so small on the paper I could have probably put them onto an A5 sheet.
I am running Family Tree Maker and I have saved my full tree. my husbands full tree and and All in One tree and put them into a pdf format, but when I open the acrobat programme to look at them, there's nothing there.
What is the point of putting all these names into this programme if it can't cope with them when it comes to printing off the tree, which is obviously what we all would do if we could.
Has anyone come across this before? Is there another way round it? .. And lastly, are there any other software programmes on the market that are better Famiy Tree Maker?
Fingers crossed!
Paula
