advice needed re WW2 service records...

Do you think it's worth requesting information about someone who was in the Army if you don't know what their service number was? I'm trying to find out more about my grandfather, but I only know which regiment he was in and his date of birth. |

His full name was Thomas Ernest Harwood, d.o.b 06/12/1923 and according to my dad, his regiment was Argyll & Sutherland. |

I have the service records for my Grandfather and it had quite a lot of detail including his height weight hair colour etc. As I have never met him it was very interesting. |
