Cant agree about the compatible ink. Mine from ink club is 15 or 19 units against just 5 that the genuine HP ones sell. Yet the same price and Ive never had a prob with them and they never ask for the old ones back.

Scouser, dont think Betty is keen on another Epson:)

I got a new printer from PC World last year.
If you go to their website the price you pay is usually less that the store price.
I ordered and paid for mine online and collected from my local PC World.

The Hewlett Packard All-In-One Deskjet F380.
It was £34.99 for a colour printer, scanner and it copies too.

There will be an up-to-date version available now.

I recently got a new PC and the printer wasn't compatible to the new Windows Vista operating system. I contacted Hewlett Packard's customer service online and they sent me the instructions to download the software I needed to make it work.
I thought that was pretty good service.

Maybe you could visit the website and get some help there??

When I got my new puter with VISTA, I just went to HPs website and did a search and downloaded the vista patch from there.

For the cost of two cartridges you can just about buy a new printer/scanner/copier. Try Wilkinsons/Tesco or even PC World. I bought a Lexmark recently for £29.95 including 2 cartidges.

I read somewhere that you have to be a bit careful with the cheap Lexmark printers. The carrtidges supplied are not full ones and will only print a handful of pages before they need replacing, so check out the price of the replacements before you buy.

Also one of the URL's on here (Paul's?) is too long and causing problems with the web page displaying. Could the member split it into two please?

Yes, I think its Lexmark where you cant buy compatibles isnt it?

When I needed a new printer a few months ago I trawled the internet to see what was available in my area (of Canada) and found an HP Photosmart C4210 for $20, that would be about GBP 10 (sorry I don't have the British monetary symbol on my keyboard), at Best Buy. Prints, scans, copies; in b&w and color. Works just as well as the very expensive one I had before, that only lasted 4 years. I figure at that price, it only lasts a year or two, then no loss. You might luck into a similar deal. Good luck!

Lynda

PS forgot to say the regular price was about $80.

Staples and Tescos have an HP all in one printer, scanner and copier for less than £30 at the moment.
