Thank you again for your help. This does make this a bit more confusing for me. My mum, who was not very good at remembering things said that Dan died in the second World War on the Voltaire, yet when I looked through the records the only Chapman who died on the Voltaire was some one called Leonard edgar Charles, who was born in abt 1919. Now if Ellen was 45 in 1901, the likelyhood of her having a child 18 years later, I would think are non exsistant. Can you think of anywhere else, I might look for World War 2 casualties. Sorry to pick your brains again, I know it's cheeky. |

Thanks for pointing that out Heather, the thought had never crossed my mind that he would be 42. My mum said it would be WW2, and to doubt her didn't cross my mind. She also said he was on the War memorial in Plymouth, but I can't find Dan on there, or on the Commonwealth War Graves, in either war. |
