I have an address of 108 Alexandra street St Kilda East Melbourne on a family document. I need to find out if it is a private address or government building. I have found it on google earth so know it still exists today opposite a large cemetery. i have googled the address, gone through road maps and telephone books trying to tie a name to the address with no success. How else can i try to find out what the large building (on Google Earth) is, without actually flying over there or writting an open letter that may or may not get answered. |

Perhaps one of our friends from down under will be able to help, or try a round a bout way that worked for me. Locate a nearby school and write to the history teacher - give him / her some background and the story of your family and see if the teacher wants to use it in one of their lessons and get the children to do some investigating for you - its a bit of give and take but can be rewarding |

In case it may help .... you could try the St Kilda town (city?) Council offices -they should have records of all their properties & rate-payers etc. (they could also know something of the past owners' history.) .....Valerie (WA) |
