WOW..thanks Jeanette.

I didnt know when they left for Oz..just a guess that it was around the time, or just before, I was born..1968.

So this looks like it means that Bessie went to Oz and Leslie was killed in the air raid in ww2.

I was thinking it was the other way round..

Great find!....without folks like you ...I'd have never known....

Thanks Very Muchness!...... :)..Very Much Appricated

Yes...I had looked for a death during the war years to co-inside with the story of an aunt killed in an air raid in ww2. But didn't find any reference to a Bessie Wilson dying in ww2.

I was looking for Bessie..but it appears to have been Leslie. I think Leslie's middle name begain with a W.
At least thats what I have...she was born in 1937.
if my info is correct.

I also have Bessie as born in March?..not Feb as it appears. Unless she wasnt registered till March..would seem odd

The story was that my gran was going out shopping. Taking my father with her. But my aunt was not well..so stayed at home...During the shopping trip, there was an air raid. In returning to the house, my gran found the house took a direct hit from a bomb..possibly a V1..
But have never been able to find or prove the truth.

Hi Paul - it seems that they went to Melbourne. So - as they went to Melbourne -you'll now need to contact the 'Victoria State Library' - (query form on-line). ......I couldn't see any record of Bessie's or Leslie's death in the Melbourne cemeteries - so hopefully you will find them ok. .....Valerie
