I am thinking perhaps his mother died and Harry was adopted, maybe though, by relatives.

Anyway, there are two deaths Jan/Feb/March 1876 in Warrington of two women called Emma Timperley (which might tie up with the marriage listed above of Thomas Timperley and Emma which Christine found).

One born 1831 and one 1861. Is one of these his mother and did she die in childbirth?

Emma Timperley
Estimated Birth Year: abt 1861
Year of Registration: 1876
Quarter of Registration: Jan-Feb-Mar
Age at Death: 15
District: Warrington
County: Cheshire, Lancashire
Volume: 8c

Emma Timperley
Estimated Birth Year: abt 1831
Year of Registration: 1876
Quarter of Registration: Jan-Feb-Mar
Age at Death: 45
District: Warrington

It would be interesting to look at these death certificates.

If Harry is the correct person, his birth is here:-
Harry Timperley 1876 - Jan/Feb/Mar - Warrington, Cheshire.
Harry Timperley
Year of Registration: 1876
Quarter of Registration: Jan-Feb-Mar
District: Warrington
County: Cheshire, Lancashire

This would tell you who his original parents are.

FreeBMD has some probably relevant deaths - see Warrington (which includes Newton in Makerfield).

The same family is here:
1871 RG10/3899 fo 107? (poss 108) p18
wife's name is v hard to read - and doesn't look much like "Emma"

1861 RG9/2598 fo 112 p 3
wife's name = Emma

If it's that family, then the likely candidates are in Eccleston, Lancs in 1881:
RG11/3735 fo 129 p 28

Father, a widower, Thomas 48, baker, b Runcorn, Cheshire (corrected from my misreading as "Yorkshire")

On the other hand, it seems much more likely that he'd be the Harry TIMPERLEY, registered 1876, Newton-le-Willows St Helens (no MMN, yet, I'm afraid)

Putting in Timperley and St Helens also picks up:
1866 ~ Mary
1869 ~ William Henry
1871 ~ Walter
1873 ~ Rebecca

1890 ~ William H

I just found a set of records that go with the one that Margaret Manson found (today 17:55).

Whether or not it goes with your family, I don't know. I thought that the set of info I collected might help you to decide one way or the other.

christine i am not sure who these people are . could you explain who you think the henry timperley marrying in 1877 is ?

Births Mar 1876

TIMPERLEY Harry Warrington 8c 132

so this looks like the harry timperley who was on the census as being adopted

so still not sure where my henry timperley is

1884 ~ Ann
1887 ~ James
1889 ~ John
1892 ~ Thomas Miller

The adopted son Harry from 1901 is also an adopted son in both 1881 and 1891.

The closest one that I can see in 1891 was born 1886 in Morecambe, Lancashire. His parents were Henry & Jane and they are living in Poulton Bare & Torrisholme, Lancs.
This looks like his birth on BVRI:

TIMPERLEY, Henry Christening
Gender: Male
Birth Date: 11 Jan 1886
Christening Date: 25 Jan 1886 Recorded in: Adlington, Lancashire, England
Father: Henry TIMPERLEY
