Linda,

Found a George Ouellette son of Chas. (Charles?) and Eliza nee Belbo, died in Ontario 1924 aged 41. If this turns out to be your George, pm me and I will send you the image of the death cert.

Talk about bad timing, Linda!
I'm just about to head out the door for a little holiday, will be back on Wednesday and will be happy to do some local look-ups for you.
Meanwhile:
Walter James Empey born 24 Sep. 1873, Chenail, Quebec. Died 19 Nov. 1960, Long Sault, Ontario.
Wife Margaret Alice died 1986, both buried Union Cemetery, Williamsburg, Ontario.
One child that I know of, Dorothy Helen Empey but no dates.
Can check obituaries in local newspapers after I get back.
Haven't found anything on your Ouellette family yet, there are oodles of Ouellettes around here.
Must go!
Margaret

Hi Margaret,

How interesting. I don't suppose you know anything else about Walter do you?

No relationship, actually, Linda.
Hubby's family tree became a database of all of the founding families of Cornwall. Ontario (where we live).
It also includes surrounding areas.

Hi Margaret,

I can't see that we have,

What's your hubbies connection? Margaret was my Dad's half sister

Have we been in contact before, Linda?
Hubbie has Walter James Empey in his tree. He was married to Margaret Alice White (born 1904, Hastings, England). They were married 19 June, 1922, Lancaster, Glengarry Co., Ontario.

Hi Lisa,

I don't know George's occupation.

I know her sister Margaret married a Walter James Empey in Glengarry, Hamilton in 1922 and I can remember my Dad mentioning that area years ago.

She married just 2 years after they arrived so it maybe that's the area they lived in.

I know my Dad lived right near the banks of the St. Lawrence river.

Linda, do you know George's occupation, please?

Also, would you know what part of Ontario?

I had a look on here

http://www.archives.gov.on.ca/english/interloan/vsmain.htm

But everything is on microfilm. The web-site I used for BC has many birth, marriage & deaths on-line.

If Ontario records are not on-line I'm not sure where to go from here.

It's just a very slow process, one tiny piece of infomation leads to another and so on. I would indeed start with the marriage certificate.

Also, with a name like Ouellette it might be slightly easier. Looking on Ancestry there were three George Ouellette's living in Ontario (no Violet though).
One in Carleton born 1882
one in Kent West born in 1894
one in Nipissing born in 1887.
That's all the information it gives because I don't subscribe to Ancesrty worldwide.

If you know where in Ontario they were last living you could try Googling that area's Genealogical society or reference library and contact them. Also, try writing to a newspaper letters page . . . . somebody just might read it!

I suppose I ought to order their marriage cert. may give me his fathers name.

Oh . . . I have had some luck tracing people in British Columbia, (a very good web-site), however I don't know about Ontario records. I'll have a go but not promising anything!
