My grandfather was born on 29.12.1901, after the 1901 Census was compiled, he is not therefore recorded in the Census Records. Can anyone give me tips of how I can see a Census Record post 1901, which would show details of my great, great grandparents, my grandfather (dob 29.12.1901) and any siblings, other than travelling to the area they lived.

My grandfather's birth was registered in Bywell, Hexham, so I assume my great, great grandprents were living in the Hexham after 1901 Census Record was compiled.

Sorry if this sounds a little muddled, I hope it makes sense! Toni

Your best bet is to get your grandfathers birth cert. You will then have his parents names to help you find them on 1901 census.

The 1911 census may come out next year but with some parts obscured until 2012.
If you have an address for 1911 you can pay £45 for an address search.
I do not think that you will find anything extra in the area.

Thanks for this Jim

Unfortunately, I only have address at the time of my grandfather's date of birth

Hi Toni, I'd order your grandfathers birth cert and then you will be able to trace the line backwards through the census'

Jim Soton - Next year!!!!?????? I didn't know that! Tell me more! How many parts will be obscured? (I bet they're all my bloomin parts!)

As you have your grandfathers brith cert with his fathers name
Thomas Henry Hall, could you also give us his mothers name from the cert so we can see if we can help you.

x

Toni

Seeing as you have the address at the time of your grandfathers birth if you also post that I will check that address in 1901 census to see if they were living there then.

Helen
Here you go.

http://www.1911census.org.uk/

The next census that will be available to the public will be the eagerly awaited 1911 census. In recent years, census information has been closed, certainly for family history purposes, for 100 years which is why the latest generally available to the public is that taken in 1901. The National Archives were planning to make the 1911 census available in January 2012 but a ruling by the Information Commissioner in December 2006 means that the National Archives have been forced to make the information available now. However for practical reasons, all that is available at the moment is a paid for search by National Archives staff to give the details of people living at a nominated address.

Recently (April 2007), National Archives announced that ScotlandOnline will be their partner in the project to put the 1911 census for England and Wales online. From 2009 there will be a phased release of the information starting with the major conurbations; this will include images and transcription data.

A caveat on this is that "personally sensistive" information will not be available until 3 January 2012. According to the minutes of the FRC User Group in January 2007, this would include "details of infirmity or other health-related information, information about family relationships which would usually have been kept secret and information about very young children who were born in prison".

Hi Christy.

GG GM's name was Mary Twizell and the address at the time of my Gf's birth was:

I've just got a copy of my family on the 1911, the only part obscured was the very end column (on the right).

Its not very often anything is recorded in this column but I have seen things like "deaf" or "dumb since birth"
