You could try ordering the certificates but stipulate Father's name (as taken from his marriage certificate) as a checkpoint. I know this would still cost money and would be far from foolproof but at least it could narrow down the search a little.

really depends what time of the year he was born /married/ died. he could have just had a birthday or be in between. or just coming up to a birthday. Plus of course the age reg on death is only as relevant as the informant thinks they know .

Hello, Can anyone tell me how they would go about working out this quandry.

My great grandfather was named Alfred Skinner - He died in 1941 aged 47 in Mile End London. He married in 1917 at the age of 25. When you do the math it doesn't work out right for his birth date. There is a two year difference. I need to find his family and have looked through the archives and i have four possible matches. Can anyone advise me my next course of action because i do not know how i would possibly narrow it down further.
