If you read through the newspapers that they have you'll find loads of Birth & Marriage announcments for Irvings. They were all over Cumberland especially Longtown.

Just read your above post saying you have no links for your Irvings. I have Irvigs from Longtown Cumberland in my tree. My great grandfather Robert was born there in 1852. I checked the images of Wariwck in 1871 There is a family living there with a child Eliz Thompson aged 9 born Westmoreland.

Her family is Thomas Thompson 44 Westmoreland Coachman Eliza 43 Laundress Westmoreland, Sarah 21 Housekeeper Westmoreland, Ellen 11 b Westmoreland, Jane 7 Durham, Thomas 5 and William 2 b Warwick

It is the Warwick District 9, images 11-12 in 1861

i know chris, thats my proble, in skelton 1881, im sure this is both of them as it is a bit of a coincidence him marrying an elizabeth thompson (as on my grandads birth cert.) she doesnt register that she is form anywhere.
