Hello!

I got a reply for Ancestry today telling me to disable Norton Confidential (throught the tools menu - manage add-ons). I've tried it and it works, no more freezing! Just need to hassle Norton now as its not really safe to keep disabling it every time I want to access Ancestry.

still waiting for a reply to my first complaint several weeks ago let alone my more serious complaint on 28th.
I wonder if they will ever reply

Just tried to complain to Ancestry - the website froze halfway through!!

This is getting really annoying, if it doesn't sort itself out soon I'll have to start doing useful things on my days off like tidying and ironing and that will never do! :-)

Hi everybody again,

I sent my last email complaint directly to their page which asks for 'Feedback' regarding their new service. I don't know if its just coincidence but I don't have any problems at the moment. Fingers crosssed and all that !!

Everybody should complain strongly to that and threaten to pull out, maybe they might take notice !!

Iain001 Report 28 May 2008 11:55

I still get the problem and that is with Norton Confidential Browser Helper Object disabled, not as bad admittedly but still occurs often when at a point in a search that you really cannot leave.
This is awful. Just sent them another message complaining and informing them that I pay monthly and will have no choice but to close my account if this continues.
Didnt get a reply last time ( a few weeks ago), let's see if I get one this time.

Its still not working!!

I tried removing the Enhanced Image Viewer as recomended by Joy but it still doesn't work, just keeps freezing.

Time to complain again i think!

Is this still on going? Norton user need not bother with Ancestry, unless they are computer techs? I was thinking about joining, is there any other good and user friendly sites?

Just tried again on Ancestry.co.uk and no luck, thought I'd try Ancestry.com and it works - have no idea why it should work on one and not the other.

Thought it was my computer playing up but this disproves that theory. Im on Vista and AOL.

Fingers crossed!!!

Yes Michelle that has been happening to me the screen just crashes.

If anyone has this problem and knows how to solve it please tell me as I am getting very tired of closing and restarting Internet Explorer.

I have XP.

Thank you

Well Joy has had more joy than me when it comes to responses from Ancestry. All I get is the usual blah-blah email that I have to respond to within 72 hours if the problems still occur - and then hear nothing at all!

Was going to try the suggestion Joy passed on - but then saw Amanda's reply. lol

Maybe we shall all start demanding refunds for the times we cant use Ancestry.

Glad Im not the only one with this problem. Clicked on image and it just flashed. I emailed them Saturday and they gave the same reply like Joys.

Followed it exactly word for word and hey presto it worked. Tried again this evening and guess what not working again - so annoying. Guess I'll have to email them again. I tried disabling Norton and no difference

No problems whatsoever - I don't have Norton, and use the Safari browser.
