Sometimes local studies libraries have old electoral rolls and some will do look ups for free, and others might charge - its always worth searching on google for the local records office or local studies centre and then sending them an email to ask.

As you have an exact date and address they may do it for free.

I know I've had free electoral roll lookups via Tameside Local Studies (which covers Ashton under Lyne, Stalybridge etc) so its always worth asking.

Can anyone advise me on the use of electoral rolls as I have never used them.I have recently been given a photo with an address, 63 Lake Terrace Melton Mowbray and a date of Sept. 1941. I am not sure which rolls can be viewed or if there is a charge , I do assume that one would have to apply to the appropriate records office.
Any info would be welcome.
Thanks Christine
