I have 2006 with VISTA - no problems since I downloading the VISTA patch.

In any FTM you go to File import new family /tree and then box will open for you to click on what gedcom you want to use ;;
I run both 2008 and 2006 with Vista with no problems ;;

Hi Tracie,

Can't really help with the 2008 FTM except that I did read somewhere you have to be the administrator of the computer I think for it to work.

Regarding the 2006, Do you have your gedcom stored on your computer, if so right click on it and it should open in FTM or say open with and give FTM as an option.

HI

This has probably been asked before, but can anyone recommend a family tree programme that works with vista. I have recently upgraded my laptop and it is running vista, and no matter what I do I cannot seem to get my family tree maker 2008 to run on it, even with the patch. I have loaded it on and all seems fine, but as soon as I click on any icon to open it I get lots of error messages.

I have family tree maker 2006 also, and have tried putting that on, and that seems to run fine but I cannot seem to find the import tree button anywhere, if I have missed it can someone point me in the right direction.

All help gratefully recieved B-)
