Scouser from Leicester Report 3 May 2008 15:27

I am sure some of you will remember trying to help me over the years look for my Grandfather I have looked for nearly 4 years without success well now I have one last clue on his marrage certificate in 1915 it say's he lived at 20 Glouster Road Luton now how do I find out who was living there in May 1915? I know his father was dead but his mother or a brother or sister may have lived there.
Can any one help please.

Hi Paul
I would think that you need the electoral roll for that year. Maybe the local library in Luton or a records office there may be able to help.
Maybe someone can give you the address or contact details for them. Or google.
Good luck Joan
Was he in the army ???
What else do you want to know ?

Hi Joan
Like most I didn't listen or ask questions when my Parents were alive so I know next to nothing what I do know is he was born 1891 according to the marriege cert(Age 24) and my sister say's mum told her he was wonderer womaniser and kept coming and going untill my gran died in 1936, my mum saw him once more after that on my mums marriege cert 1944 she say's he is deceased and that's about it.

Females didn't have the vote in 1915, so the ER will probably not be much help............but you could try contacting the main library in Luton, to see if they will do a lookup for you. Obviously, the records will show the householder as at the time the forms were completed, and may not reflect accurately the names of any occupants in the specific month.

As ever Reg good advice thanks don't know what I would do without you.
Jane thanks tried that some time ago but there is so little to go on, he was a roamer and in the extream could have had another wife or cohabited who knows I don't think I will ever find out what happened to him but I live in hopes that I will trace his ancestery.

From Google Earth, Gloucester Road, Luton seems to be an industrial park now, so I'm afraid the house has long gone.
