Depends when they emigrated.
The 1901 and 1911 Canadian censuses are free here:

http://www.automatedgenealogy.com/index.html

Immigration to Canada between 1925-1935, here:

http://search-recherche.collectionscanada.ca/archives/search.jsp?Language=eng

Also at that site, attestation papers for soldiers of WW1.

Do you know what province they went to? Vital Statistics are different for all of the provinces.

These Snowsells emigrated in 1926:
Maud, 45
Charles E. G., 12

Hello Margaret

Yes they are mine they went to North central Sask first for years

Have you got anything on them please ???

MargaretM

MargaretM Report 3 May 2008 15:57

All it says is that they landed in Quebec, 22 Aug. 1926 aboard the Ascania (Cunard).
Not much help, is it?
It doesn't mean anything that they landed in Quebec, that's about as far inland as you can go by ship. From there it's usually by train, so they could have gone anywhere.

Oops, just noticed, Saskatchewan!

There are some vital statistics for Saskatchewan online but only births more than 100 years ago and deaths more than 70, no marriages.
I don't know what to suggest.

There's this site to find addresses and telephone numbers of people in Canada:

http://www.canada411.ca/

There are 17 Snowsells there, some in Saskatchewan.

Canada is much tighter on releasing bmd information than the UK, most provinces have a 100/70/50 year rule, depending on which record.

There is also no central registry .......... registration of bmds is a provincial matter, and they have total control. So it becomes a matter of searching province by province ....... and being Canada, each province has different regulations!

I've never had to do much research on Canadian records as I am the immigrant, so I can't give you much advice

....... and I'm hoping that I don't find more than the one rellie I have just discovered died here. I found out about her when I found an obituary card regarding her death in about 1926 that had been sent to another relative still in the UK. Her name does not show on the death rgistration of either of the two provinces that were named.

She is on a far branch of my husband's family, so I may just forget about her, coward that I am

For possible future ref, if Sask gets its stuff on line.

http://vsgs.health.gov.sk.ca/vsgs_srch.aspx

Unfortunately, Saskatchewan's privacy laws are more stringent than some, as Margaret pointed out (the odd province has access to later deaths).

I go with the canada411 suggestion.

Also, just google: snowsell saskatchewan

and browse; only 294 results, so manageable.

Do you have Fautley names and dates, and were they Saskatchewan too?

These are the only Fautleys to Canada at findmypast:

FAUTLEY James R W 1921 M 1951 London Canada Halifax
FAUTLEY Percy R 1925 M 1951 London Canada Halifax
FAUTLEY Sylvia 1933 F 1957 Liverpool Canada Saint John NB

And there are only 7 phone listings total for that name in Canada at canada411, in Ontario and BC, including a P and two Js.

You can search sites specifically in Canada by using this google portal:

www.google.ca

and selecting sites in Canada.

Aha, I find someone who shares a name with you looking for Baker/Fautleys who immigrated in 1907. So is that them?

He resembles the James in your household. The listing of an address in England wouldn't rule him out; my gr-uncle is shown as having parents "of East Ham, Essex, England", when they'd immigrated to Canada 10 years earlier and his mother was deceased.

Yes, attestation papers for him, Arthur and Charles are here:

http://www.collectionscanada.gc.ca/archivianet/cef/001042-100.01-e.php

James's wife's name was Clara.
If he is yours, you can download/print a copy of the elaborate page from the Books of Remembrance at that site.
