Here's a really long shot.....

Seeing as he was the eldest child, was he born before the marriage and is under his mother's maiden name when he died?

Rose the Edmonton Office did a search for me and they too could not find a death for him, I think it is very strange also I did go the family records before they closed looked through the books and I have ancestry but find nothing it is as though he died and no one knew about it
as I say 6 years down the line and I am no further finding out

Margaret,

Have you tried contacting Edmonton register office? It could be the death never made it to the GRO.

That qtr covers April/May/June so it could have been registered 1st April. Census was 31st March so it is possible he had died 30/31 Mar and not registered for a few days but it is a long shot.

It's a problem isn't it especially as his age seems to differ such a lot.

They will all be up there looking down on us and laghing trying to trace them no doubt.

Janet 693215 Report 5 May 2008 11:20

The problem is that if the death occurred in a hospital the informant won't necessarily be his wife or a family member. My great grandad died in hospital and the informant is Alice Murphy. It was a hospital for french expats in London so I guess Alice was either a Nurse or a Nun.

Hi Margaret,

Hi Christine I have thought about getting that one although not in the area but if he had been in HOSPITAL? it could be

This may be a long shot but the date could be possible if he had just died when the census was taken on 31st March but not registered till beginning of April. Also not too sure about the area but thought I would mention it.

What was William's occupation on his children's birth certs? Would it have required him to work away from home?

When I read the details you gave for the cert I thought somebody was having you on, re the brides father. It seemed a silly name, 'George Gas Man' then I realised gas man was his occupation!

Hi Amanda Roseand Gwyn Thank you here is the details from William and Emma marriage certificate.

William Poole and Emma Ranson
married 27th OCT. 1871 Emma 21 WIilliam 24 and on the original cert. the Eliott Cracknell was put on then crossed out. Williams father was George Weaver and Emmas father was George............ Gas Man

this was th parish church Haverhill no address just of the parish witnesses were James Smith and Rebecca Lloyd

I have the certificate of the children Emma Kate George and Albert as I said the last one being born 1889 in Edmonton on that cert. it gives an occupation for William and that he is the father. ,......................After Emma remarried and on the 1901 census they were living in Walthamstow.

I have phoned all the cemteries around the Edmonton area but they can't find Williams burial. On all the marriage certificates for the children they all say father deceased. Only Albert left to find but I don't know if he married.
This is haunting me
