Anything from Beer Barrels to wooden Cartwheels or could even work in a shipyard.as mine did and was labled as Coopers,,,,,,,,wood &iron.

Coopers, as Petrina says, were indeed barrel makers. This also gave rise to the surname Cooper which is one I am researching.

try this website " The 1891 London Census Transcription", Victorian Occupations .
Cooper or Cuper : Makes or repairs barrels or other vessels made of staves & hoops,such as casks,tubs,vats etc .

I think that I remember this being discussed before.
A person who filled wine bottles from a cask was also a cooper
