Yes. Another series is in progress. I remember a thread on here a month or two back where someone mentioned that Winchester Records Office was closed to the public due to filming of WDYTYA

Just been reading the WDYTYA magazine and it says the new series will be shown later on on in the year. Six programmes with Boris Johnson, Jerry Springer, Patsy Kensit, Jodie Kidd, Laurence Llewellyn-Bowen and Esther Rantzen.

I haven't watched any of them.............I just dread the consequences. Even more new people on here thinking that you can find two hundred years of info in half an hour!

Be positive. That new person might be able to give you answers about lost relatives

We could have a game - see who can guess what 'celebrity' had ancestors in Hampshire!!

(The records office at Winchester is for Hampshire)

Mind you, we won't know the answer until the series starts.

I like it anyway, just like any other documentary...

I don't expect anything of it and then won't be disappointed.

I must admit I really enjoyed the first series and my all time favourite was Sue Johnston. She did a lot of the research herself and became really interested in the whole thing. She also found out loads about her family.

However the series have got steadily less interesting with less shown about how they actually find the information, and as Reg says, the series makers make it look as if you can find hundreds of years of family history in no time at all. I also remember that during the first series we were waiting for up to 6 weeks for delivery of certificates from the GRO because they couldn't cope with the sudden influx of enquiries.

It would be great if they chose somebody who had Irish Grandparents but didn't know where they were born ............and knew zilch about any of their other ancestors!

Preferably with names like O'Brien, Brady, Murphy Fitzpatrick or other common Irish Surnames.

With a mixture of RC and Church of Ireland thrown in for good measure.

I know some celebrities have had Irish ancestors, but they didn't show that much on how they actually traced them.

Perhaps they should try choosing some of us ordinary folk on here for their next series, if they do another one!

Now that would be very interesting!
