Hi Nicola

Being in New Zealand I always go to the LDS and order the film I want. There might be a wait (I think they come from Australia) but when it comes, the joy when I find ancestors :))) or frustration when I dont :(((

I would imagine Lancashire records office would hold Parish Records.... Also the LDS site WWW. familysearch.org hold the parish records for many areas, more than what you can access on line. If you have a local LDS centre close to you {the list is on the website} you can hire the films for a couple of pounds and view them at the centre. Its a bit hit and miss for the records they hold ...but always worth a look ,you may be lucky.

Thanks Nicky
I didn't know about this and I'm sure it will be very useful- but you know how it always is- the coverage isn't quite for the years i'm needing! Why does that always happen?

Back to scratch then. How do I get access to the parish registers myself?

Could anyone advise me please?

I want to go to the parish records and look at the marriages. Where do I start? Are they kept at the church and do you have to make an appt? or are they kept in a local labrary.

When I get my hands on them - Then what?

thanks so much- I know you'll save me loads of wasted time
Nicola
