I need to scream update

I just feel the need to scream in frustration!!

On Sunday I had an auto message from a genealogy site where I had posted a query almost 2 years ago. A man has recently discovered a family bible with my grandfather's (unusual) name in it, as well as many siblings, parents etc. He didn't even know of the relevance of the surname (which belonged to his grandmother) as he says his father never mentioned his family. I have photos of his father, grandmother and great grandparents and am desperate to make contact. His grandmother and my grandfather were brother and sister.

I have left messages on 2 separate sites for him where he has asked for help but he STILL hasn't responded. I am going mad waiting.

Perhaps he isn't into researching family history Miss and doesn't feel the need to log on everyday unlike we do...give him time to reply...arghhh!!

Good luck

Just be careful its not a scam, people come into the charity shop where I worked bought bibles and then just wrote names in them.after pretending to be relatives and looking in your tree. You cant see them on Ebay until after you've paid. and would you know you relatives writing if you saw it ?

Lindsey, you're right, I should be careful but this man knew names that wouldn't necessarily link up. For example he knew that my grandfather was a Pickavance but his father was a Pickavant. Plus the name he gave matches what my mum knows about the family.

Thanks for the offer of help Sheila but I don't want to frighten him off as a pushy person!

I suppose I will just have to sit tight. But oh, how I want to scream "get a move on.."

He could be on holiday or having computer problems.

He has emailed me - yippee!!
Yes, he is definitely who I wanted him to be and has sent me images of the bible.
On cloud nine.

That is fantastic news!!! I read on this site about family bibles on Ebay, took a look and have decided to buy, in the near future, three old bibles ( circa 1850) but with no entries at all in them, so I can put my own three children's family history in, as a novelty gift for them. None of them is interested at present in genealogy (ages 16, 20 and 23) but I know at some stage one of them will be.
