I'd appreciate any ideas of the name of my ancestor who appears on the 1871 census, married to Thomas Loydall, living Hackney, born Warwickshire c1837. Thanks in advance for any help. I'll be back on board this evening.

Hi Chris- I agree, it looks like "Restoy"!
But is this them 10 years before....?(I looked for baby Emma)

Name: Emma Loydna
Age: 3
Estimated Birth Year: abt 1858
Relation: Daughter
Father's Name: Thomas
Mother's Name: Elizabeth
Gender: Female
Where born: Stoke, Warwickshire, England

Civil Parish: Stoke
County/Island: Warwickshire
Country: England

Registration district: Foleshill
Sub registration district: Sowe
ED, institution, or vessel: 8
Neighbors: View others on page
Household schedule number: 147
Household Members: Name Age
Elizabeth Loydna 25
Emma Loydna 3
Thomas Loydna 25

I think it looks like "Loydall" on the original....
If it is, maybe Restoy was Elizabeth's middle name???
If this is them, Emma's birth is under Loydall.

It definitely reads Restoy but I've noticed that a lot of his B's look like R's. I wonder if she said her name was Betsy? Still not correct but it's closer.

There is this marriage for an Elizabeth in Foleshill in the right quarter.

Hazelwood Elizabeth Foleshill 6d 656

Foleshill is in italics, which means the page no is wrong for that district and quarter. The image is not very clear. I think it looks more like 536 but it could be 556 the same as the one Lindsey found.

I wonder if Restoy should have been Betsey, short for Elizabeth.

Thanks everyone. Betsy seems to be the answer then. But it does make the mind boggle doesn't it? Your help is very much appreciated.
