cost of registering a birth

Many thanks all and for clarifying it was the full birth cert that required payment not the registration,

As has already been said, registration is free.

I have a vague recollection of paying seven shillings and sixpence (37and a half pence) for my son's full birth certificate in 1961.

In England and Wales, the registration is free, and you are given a short birth certificate. You would only pay if you want a full birth certificate.

Registration is required within 6 weeks (42 days) of the birth.

hello, would anyone have any idea how much it cost to register a birth within first two weeks in the area of birth in the 1960's and the 1950's please
