Hi all

I ordered some certs on the 3rd of April - and they indicated that they would be sent out on the 9th but I've not received anything yet.

Is anyone else experiencing a delay ?

Cheers...Paul

Mine are generally taking more than a week, but they come in dribs & drabs and not usually alltogether even though they're odered at the same time.

I've even resorted to phoning once to chase them up only to be told that miraculously they "were being processed that day" albiet several days late!

From the website...

Service Announcement - Thursday 10 April

The General Register Office are currently experiencing high levels of requests for certificates. Although every effort is being made to despatch all orders on time, you may experience an additional two day delay in receiving your certificate(s).

We apologise for any inconvenience caused and anticipate that the service will be back to normal from the week beginning 21 April.

Please note that our Priority Service is not affected and all priority orders are continuing to be despatched on time.

I am waiting for three - 1 due for despatch on the 10th and 2 on the 11th.
Have never had to wait over date before - in fact they usually come earlier.

For £7 a pop, they should take on more staff to make sure they go out on time.

William Report 16 Apr 2008 12:03

Slightly off topic but are there not steps underway to digitise them for online viewing?

They'd have to change the law....

Mine were due to be sent out on the 9th and I got them today. Looks like they're about a week behind.

There was a thread similar to this one last week.

I ordered by phone on 14th and was told 2 weeks.

I hope they take on more staff for when the 1911 census comes out.....everyone will be ordering then!

I dont know if it was something I was reading in one of the ancestry magazines I buy.
But the idea was basically that the records were digitised so instead of sending off for a copy you could access the records and view/print off your own.

PDH not so new now!

PDH not so new now! Report 16 Apr 2008 16:41

I ordered 4 on Mon 7th (p.m.)- got 1 on Weds 9th! (although typically it was the one I was sure of the info, not the one I needed for clues!). The next one came Mon 14th,(1 week as usual) then 1 today -16th.
On the "dispatch date" is typed "14th" but someone has scribbled it out and put 11th......?

Of course, the one I'm desperate for, for the most needed clues is the one still outstanding......
