UPDATE
Right- this is what I've found
Thankyou Alistair, the site you told me of had a map of 1861-perfect!
I have been comparing the old map to todays one.
The road where they lived in 1861 doesn't exist now, but by looking at the road names either side on the census I found where it was.
It was opposite the church where the little sister was christened!
It is all in overall 'Westminster.'
It is also in St Pancras, as we know it.
It is also the borough of Marylebone as was.
The church is 'Old Church,St Pancras'(lovely website details/photos)
In the old map,the churchyard next to church is called"St Giles, St George Bloomsbury"
All these placenames have been used on different censuses......now i know they are all still the same place! Hurray!
Course I didn't find my chap yet, but at least I'm looking in the right place!
Thanks everyone!

Yep. had a good trawl through that one!
Can't see anything in the Westminster churches.
But since I found his sister in a different parish to the one she put on censuses, I hope he might have made the same mistake......
My difficulty is not knowing the boundaries (sister was born "on the line between" 2 parishes) but I need to work out the neigbouring bits to "Westminster".....

Your best bet would be if you go to this site

http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.ancestry.com/~hughwallis/IGIBatchNumbers.htm

Then click England...London including Middlesex ( N-Z)..Then W and scroll down to Westminster

That site is like the IGI

Christina- I know and the parishes they lived in all intersect!!
Hoping to find an old map with the oldest known address for the family and work out where the churches were.....is it likely they would've christened only 1 of the kids? I really need more on this chap's birthplace to stand any hope of finding his parents marriage (all before 1837 of course!)

SEE LATEST ADD
Hi all- especially Julie, I just logged on and saw your reply to Janine about London districts,
I'm looking for someone who has put "Westminster" for birthplace on all census (born 1828/1829) and I have been through all baptisms in IGI church batches without success.
BUT his little sister is listed as "birthplace St Pancras" and she is clearly found as born and baptised in St Marylebone instead. so maybe he wasn't technically in Westminster ??
I don't know the districts, but they look nearby on maps....
Any ideas???
