Admitedly, my example is outside GRO's jurisdiction, but I have to ask best for what?

I'm sure the official birth record gives a much less accurate place of birth than the plaque reading
"Matthew Wayne Cormack born here on July 20, 1985
Thanks to all Whistler EMS & Search & Rescue"
nailed to a tree in the forest by the trail to Cheakamus Lake.

I always use the GRO. Have a handwritten copy of my g grandfather's birth certificate. Despite it being stored in acid free, dark, conditions, the ink used has faded to the extent that I may have to order a replacement.

Just to note that the GRO certs are actual copies of the copy of the actual cert - if that makes sense.
The original certs are kept by the local offices and they have to send a copy to the GRO which in the past were copied by clerks.
If you are lucky local offices give facsimile copies as opposed to handwritten transcriptions and then you get the actual signatures or 'mark's.

because they provide one with an actual copy of certificates, the fee is £7 and i can not fault their service.
