Difficult with common Welsh surnames, I know, but have you found their marriage reference?
That would at least give fathers' names.

Where are they in later census, as a married couple?
That will tell you Mary's birthplace, which is possibly the parish where they married.

Have you looked for a possible baptism on the IGI?

Tillot

Tillot Report 4 Apr 2008 13:23

This could possibly be their marriage:

1854, Quarter 4, district of Llandilofawr

A John Lewis marriage and Mary Thomas is on the same page.

Good Luck!

Gaylene,
I thought it was John's (b1821) PARENTS you were trying to find.
The 1841 census shows one John Lewis b1821 LIVING in Llangathen. It may not be him of course. However, he is living with Lewis Lewis and Elizabeth Lewis, whose ages are both given as 85, which makes them more likely to be his grandparents, rather than his parents.
Hope this helps!

Ray

The marriage cert will tell the poster the name and occupation of his Father (if known)...............that's why she has been steered in that direction!
