I've been searching the censuses for a couple of years now, for both myself and others.

While doing a look up earlier I came across an address and the enumerator has written
"Schedule left, visiting at nottingham away from 4th April not returned 6th of April schedule not recieved"

Could well be why you can't find ancestors where they should be. That's the first time I've seen that so thought I would share it

Thanjs for that. I have one or two relatives I can't find at all on the censuses and assumed that they were away when they were done.
I do have a relative who is on the 1891 census along with a very young daughter. By 1901 they have disappeared and I found the mother in the deaths register between the two censuses, but the daughter doesn't appear on the deaths register as far as I can find.
