I have found a Prosecutors Bill in the Petty Session at Salford in 1840, John Braddock was found guilty of False Pretences and later in the year was declared bankrupt. I haven't been able to locate any information on his bankruptcy or why he was charged with false pretences. Any suggestions? Heather |

If he was declared bankrupt later in the year, then I would imagine that he might have been trying to obtain money by false pretences - either from a bank or somewhere else. Perhaps he used a false name or something like that. |

Kath, Hadn't thought of that. He stated he was a chemist and druggist and I wondered if he had overstated his qualifications. Heather |
