..is that a UK grave? check the d.o.d, your man may have been home wounded or even died of the influenza pandemic if the death was late 1918 or in 1919

It means he was a casualty of the commonwealth war dead

simply, he died fighting in the 1st world war

My OH's grandfather died in WW1
i have some details about him from CWGC.
which tells me which regiment he was in and his
service no. etc
but where it says casualty type; it's got
commonwealth war dead. does this mean they dont
know where he was killed or am i barking up the wrong tree.
