Hi Joy

It is very possible. My gggrandfather Jesse Titshall comitted suicide on the 30th June 1894 and had just become a father again the previous February. His widow Mary Titshall baptised the babe Rose in September 1894 and listed Jesse as the father, including his occupation, even though he had been dead for 3 months.

I would say it is perfectly possible. If the mother died in childbirth or shortly afterwards, it's likely that the father was too busy with the funeral and such to think about baptising the child straight away.

I am pretty sure that the mother would still be named on the baptism certificate.

If the date of birth is not given on the baptism record, then you won't find it anywhere else, unless you come across a family bible or some other family record of the birth.

Hi
I have a child being Baptized 8/4/1832 and on the baptisim records it states her parents as ann and john. This confirms the infomation i was searching for.
However... i beleive her mother was buried 4/2/1832.

Is this possiable? My detective skills!!!! have guessed she died in childbirth. Would she still be named on baptisim records if she had died.? I cant as yet find a record for the childs actull date of birth but i gather there can be a gap between birth/baptisims.

thanks
joy
