Thank you so much for this link, Jennifer. I couldn't get in on the links posted a few days ago but your way worked for me,

I found out that my grt grt uncle was killed aged 16 after being beaten up by two men - I never knew this and am feeling very sad at the moment!

BTW Jim you were right about 'late night' - just look at the time!

Thanks again and I hope time doesn't run out too soon on this trial.

One of the branches of my tree is full of Black Sheep. That is the name I always look for first.

I have just discovered that my own great grandfather spent a year in prison doing hard labour.

Oh dear......it's a good job my grandmother didn't live to find that out. I spent my childhood hearing about what a great man he was.

Hi

Thanks for posting this link, through this site ive managed to trace a music hall performer relative of mine. Its given me a whole year for him travelling round the country and who his agent was. a great insight to his life. Fantastic

Thankyou

Julie

Sorry, Ina, I haven't a clue what the problem is. Maybe try a different browser?

In case anyone hasn't noticed, the trial includes a database called British Newspapers 1600-1900.

If you search the older newspapers (17th/18th c) don't forget that "s" may be written as "f" and "ss" as "fs", so for example you'll need to search for "mafter" instead of "master" and "mifs" instead of "miss".

I'm in too, thanks, Jennifer.

The trial access is apparently for a limited time, but it doesn't say how long.
