I have been trying for ages to find a maiden name for my grt grandmother x7 but am getting no where. My grandad was christopher comben born portland ? dorset approx 1776. I have a ann i beleive to have been born about 1778, (my gt x7 grandmother) i havent confirmed this though as the info was given to me.I have 9 children born to them and all baptised at st georges church in portland dorset. I have dates for all the baptisms. |

Do you have Christopher's parents? Or did he have a middle name? |

Have you tried the Dorset OPC? (Online Parish Clerk?) Ive used the Cornish one in the past and they are superb - gave me not just the event Id queried but looked up others in the village she thought Id be interested in. |

BVRI is British Vital Records Index, a set of 16 cd's that you can purchase from LDS. They are extracted from parish records so quite reliable. |

Just as easy for me to send them all, Joy. That way you can double-check them with what you already have. |
