Most of us have family tree maker. The new version is the 2008 which I bought and didnt like so Im still using my FTM 2006. I think play.com still have it for just £5.99 including a months free ancestry sub. |

Seems funny that. The price on the play.com website is £5-99. In the photo on that site you can clearly see the GSP logo on the top right of the box, these are the people that make and sell the program in the U.K.. |

I have been using a program from MyHeritage.com. It's great and free! |

I think one of the reasons why I went for the one on play.com is because of the free subscription for 1 month. It'll be handy to give me that extra boost and then once I've had full use of ancestry.com I can decide where it's worth paying for a subscription or not. |

I also use Family Tree Maker 2006. It seems to be solid and dependable, and does pretty much everything to satisfy most users needs and requirements. |

Ron, several people have bought that one from play.com - it has all the features and a months free sub - I dont know why its cheaper than the home site, may be they over stocked but certainly it has the full whack. If you read the actual product info for it on play.com you can check out that it is indeed the full version. |

Everything tends to be cheaper through Play, possibly because they are based in Jersey and not on mainland. They often seem to have sales too. I use them quite often, have done for around 5 years, and never had a problem so far. |

Hi Heather, I did read the spec on the play website but if you read it correctly it states that the spec is the manufacturers spec not the spec of the actual disk they are selling, that's what led me to the "be careful" approach. |

Well, it appears they are temporarily out of stock now! |

Hannah... Can definetly confirm the one from play.com is the 2006 edition, very user friendly got mine a couple of weeks ago....and the 30 days Ancestry is great as my sub ran out end of January, and I later found things I needed to check on. |
