Jill 2011 (aka Warrior Princess of Cilla!) Report 20 Mar 2008 13:09

I ordered my OH's CEF papers last year. I cannot remember the exact cost - and you pay for postage too - but it was not that expensive considering the amount of info I obtained.

I considered it very well worth it.

Thankyou Margaret very much for taking the time to look at this for me. Felt rather sad that he died age 35 i was hoping there might have been some descendants for me to find! What an interesting website you have given me, and no i haven't come across john wyborn tart before but will look into it.
Thankyou so much for your help

I noticed a marriage in Winnipeg of William John Wyborn Tart in 1907. Could he be a relative of your Bertram?

Oh sorry, Chris, just found his death in Canada at the tender age of 35.
Bertram R. Tart died 05/06/1920 age 35, Winnipeg, Manitoba.

Here's the site. I believe you can order certificates here:

Oh yes, he would have been included even if he wasn't Canadian, simply because he fought in the Canadian forces.

His name is not on the Canadian Virtual War Memorial so you can assume that he survived the war.

His attestation papers are here:

From this same site you can order his complete file. I have never done so. I believe they charge per page but can't tell you beforehand how many pages there are. I understand though that the cost isn't prohibitive.

I have discovered that one of my ancesters a Bertram richard Tart born in cressage shropshire 10/04/1885 was in the above force in ww1. I have found his details on ancestry , his attestation paper dated august 1915 and also details of his arrival in canada in april 1912. I am curious to find out more about him and wondered if anyone could tell me if its would be possible to get his service record. i have his regiment number.Thankyou
