I live in Denmark where everyone is given an ID number at birth (or when they become resident in the country) and I think it's the same in Norway. The problem is that I can't tell you when this system was introduced, as you say your G.Grandfather was born between 1846 - 1851. If you are lucky enough that he did have an ID nr., then you can trace all his movements in Norway. |
