Sorry if the thread sounds confusing. When reading it back it can see it is!

I am ordering certificate now.

Alfred William Hone married May Sinclair in 1914.
Eric Hone born 1915. On record mother's name Walton.

Can find no previous marriage for May Sinclair.

Sorry for confusion. Will let you know when I get certificate.

Thanks Pam.

or do you mean that the certificate shows that her maiden name was Walton, but your information is that it was Sinclair??

What's the actual wording .......... nee Walton or formerly Walton?

Have you got the marriage certificate? That might show if it was a second marriage.

Could you possibly have ordered the wrong birth certificate?

Maybe whoever gave the information to the registrar made a mistake?

Maybe the registrar made a mistake?

Have had my family tree on the go for about four years. Added each name carefully, checking and double checking names, dates etc. before adding any to be as certain as possible they are correct.

Have one couple married in 1914. Record of their marriage on freebmd and Ancestry. Their son was born in 1915.

On his birth record, his mother's surname is Walton.
His mother's maiden name Sinclair.

Any suggestions?

Thanks. Pam.
