I am trying to find the death of Dorothy Hannah Kewley(nee Davison born Jun 1913 Liverpool) who emigrated to Australia in the late 1970's.
Where can I search?

Hi James,

Can you give us a little bit more information please.

Do you know definitely that the lady has passed away?

Have you any idea which State in Australia she came to in the 70's.

I have checked the Ryerson Index and cannot find a record of her death.

bye Helen

Sorry not to have replied before now but I've been out for the evening.
My sister says that Dorothy died sometime after 1990, but unfortunately we cannot remember which part of Australia she went to.
Her son George and his wife Mary (known as Pat) also went to Australia before Dorothy did.
Thanks to both of you for your efforts.

Hi James,

KEWLEY George David born 6 March 1942; Mary Patricia (nee Riley) born 29 July 1941; David born 18 March 1964; Paul born 25 June 1965; Anthony born 22 January 1968; travelled per FAIRSTAR departing Southampton on 8 September 1968 under the

Assisted Passage Migration Scheme

1968 - 1968

You could also try the State Library of NSW and use the online "ask a librarian" service. They will do a free search for electorals for you and they even post overseas. This way you can try and pin point which state they were living in.

For aus cemeteries try

or
http://cemindex.arkangles.com/cemeteries.php

The Ryerson index has NSW newspaper adverts for death and funerals from major newspapers.

Tony Oz also has a thread that has heaps of helpful sites for aussie researchers

Good Luck, Louisa

Mary Patricia (nee Riley) born 29 July 1941;

Paul born 25 June 1965;
Anthony born 22 January 1968;

Hi James

The Itinerary of the Fairstar George & family came out to Australia;

http://www.tssfairstar.com/index.html

08 Sep 1968 to 12 Oct 1968

Nights: 34
Cruise No.: 23SB
Captain: unknown

Itinerary
(As scheduled)

Southampton

Las Palmas

Cape Town

Fremantle

Melbourne

Hobart

Sydney

For anyone who came out on the Fairstar it certainly is a great site. Plenty of info & pics etc.

However as you can see passengers could disembark at four Australian ports, so we have still to determine where your family lived in OZ.

Have you searched the whitepages?

bye Helen

Many thanks to all of you, Absolute stars!!!
George and Mary were Dorothy's Son and daughter in law.
I hadn't bothered with them as I was trying to get Dorothy sorted first.
Once again loads of thanks.
Hopefully this will jog my older sisters memory a bit.
