Me and my auntie were recently given a memorial card for distant relatives. they are a g.g.g uncle and aunt. we were shocked to see they died within 24hrs of each other. Betsy Lock died on the 6th April 1917 aged 90 and Richard Lock died on the 7th April 1917 aged 87. They were buried in Barnstaple Cemetry on April 11th. I have found the death records in on the free BMD site, what i want to know is can i find out how they died with out buying the certs. As we are very intrigued about how died espically within 24hrs of each other. |

Not really, unless there is anything mentioned on their gravestones as to cause of death. |

hi Athena, i live in London so i havent been anywhere near the graves. My Grandma only gave my Auntie the memorial cards the other day. We are also intrigued as we are realted through Richards older brother so the families must have been close. I think i will have to get the certs because im really intrigued how they both survied to such a old age (espically in that era) and then died within 24hrs...we being old romantics are thinking Richard died of a broken heart! |

Yes, either that or shock, Catherine. At that age, especially if they had a weak heart, losing a lifelong partner can be way too stressful and cause a heart attack. |

all ordered and now i just have to wait...my grandma makes me laugh she was about to throw out a old family bible as it was just mouldy and unreadbale apart from the front page which has given us 6 more members of the families births and she asks the question is this useful? also in the bundle of stuff my grandma has given us a family will naming 10 more people on the other side of the family. when we asked her why she didnt show us earlier she said i didnt think they would be very interesting! you gota love family! |

Catherine, if you could go to the Welsh Museum (ask in the library) where she lived and if they still have it I´m sure someone would translate the page with the family names on it for you. |
