Hi could anyone help or advise on how to find out if someone changed their name. I have baptisms ect on three children 1st one Rose ellen Scaife 1891 Pontefract father William Isaac Scaife 2nd one Florence Edith Scaife 1892 Swinton Rotherham Father William Isaac Scaife a Postman 3rd one William Bertram Cane 1895 Swinton Rotherham father William Cane a Postman. Mother is Elizabeth Scaife nee Walters therh is a marriage for William Scaife and Elizabeth Walters. When Elizabeth died in 1899 she was called Cane William Cane died in rotherham in 1937 and was buired with Elizabeth Cane although at the time of his death he was still living with his 2nd wife Berth Adams how weird is that ? Both William Scaife and William Cane were born Bethnal Green 1867c I can't find a William Scaife after 1892 can anyone help as i don't know if they are the same person or not? I can't find a William Scaife after 1892 can anyone help as i don't know if they are the same person or not?

She was a Walters I think.

With ref to the above
I sent for the marriage cert for William Scaife and Elizabeth Walters and i am now sure that William Scaife and William Cane are two different people.
I still Cannot find William Cane anywhere before 1891 Census can anyone please advise me on what i can do next.
All i know for sure is that he lived with Elizabeth Walters and after her death he married Bertha Adams. His year of birth is 1867c and place of birth Bethnal green (from 1901 census ) and his father is Thomas Cane a Plumber.
P.S He is not William butt Cane 1866 Middlesex.
