I have a Thomas Treloar born in Old Parisle in Devon on the 1891 census.I can not find where this is.Any help would be appreciated. Annie

My immediate thought was that it could be 'Old Parish'

And checking the image that is exactly what it is...

Devonshire. Old Parish

He seems to have a different place of birth on each census !

Most people with that name seem to come from Cornwall so I should imagine that the name of the place he was trying to tell them (they probably had a problem with his accent) was on the boarders of Devon and Cornwall.
Not much help I know.
What other places of birth did he give?

Buckfastleigh is on the south eastern edge of Dartmoor & there is a place called Holne slightly to the North. Holme was given as Thomas's birthplace on the 1901 census.

Just thought, perhaps as he was 'up north' for later censuses, Holme Parish was misheard as Old Parish?

Angela,The Thomas i am looking for was actually born in St Austell in 1846.The family moved to Gurnsey,Channel Islands and my gg grandfather Bennett was born there in 1853.Losing the family in the 1861 census and then finding Bennett in West Ham in 1871 census was wondering what had happened to Thomas.I have found there sister Caroline.To me it looks as though Thomas stayed in the Channel Islands and married Eliza from Jersey and then moved to linconshire?But the census do say birthplace as Devon? Annie
