I'm reaching completion of my written family history and I'm looking for relevant images to include. One of my ancestors was a City of London policeman 1857-1860 and I'd love to include a picture showing the uniform at the time. This was when they still wore the reinforced top hats before they changed to helmets in 1863. I've trawled the internet with no luck so I wonder if anybody can find me such an image. |

Thanks Claire. I'd seen that one. The uniform is similar. Incidentally the City of London force is separate from the Metropolitan police. |
