Hi,

Are there any records of where people are buried and in which plots? If so where are these records held?

We have some relatives that we have been told by an elderly relative are buried in a specific church yard but after spending a whole afternoon searching we were unable to find them.

Any info would be greatly appreciated.

Remember most people were buried without headstones, due to the cost.

The local council should have a department that might be able to offer help. If you are lucky they will have a register of plot numbers.

One problem you may have hit is that many churches have cleared most of their headstones that are more than 100 years old on the grounds of "safety".

Thanks guys. We know that there has been a stone at some point as our elderly relative remembers going to visit the grave stone as a child and that was less than 100 years ago.I will try the council.
