"Hello Anne,

Well, for sure Denyer is not a German name and if your grpa had children in Germany since 1950-ish then I think that you have several ways of viewing this.

1. Leonard was in the army and returned to Germany to marry a German lady - but having looked through the army marriages I have not found a L L Denyer marrying.
2. You say that he died c.1979 - in Germany ? if so you will not find the death unless you know the town were that occurred.
3. If he left at least a son who would now be about 50 years of age then he should appear in the German telephone directory. I have searched the phone book and found only one name - female - and she could be the widow - depending on age of the girl in 1950s - or more likely to be wife of the son you mention OR a daughter of whom you know nothing.
4. If you know the company for whom he worked as a sugar baker then maybe you could contact them and find if anyone has ideas as to where he went .. and maybe with whom ? many of the sugar bakers are of German descent.

I am sending you the address and telephone number by pm.

I will add that there is no other Denyer shown in all Germany."

Anyone know how to trace my grandad's extended family? He moved to Germany after WW2 & remarried, having atleast 1 son. I think the only way to trace them is to know the town they lived in (which I don't). Anyone have any ideas??? Name Leonard Levi Denyer born 1907, Surrey, UK, died c1979?. Previously married to Doris 1928. Remarried & had son c1950-ish. His profession was master baker/confectioner. His son was/is a translator (assume German>English). His father was called Alfred.
