Iv'e got a Richard Sims who married Elizabeth Gray 27/5/1860.
He was born 1838, her, 1837, both from Oxford.

I can only find them on the 1871 Census and have been looking for most of this evening.

Can anybody help?

1871 only gives the county of birth....do you know where in Oxon each of them was born?

Thanks for helping

I found the same Census for 1871.
Richard was from Headington registration district and Elizabeth probably was as well.

I thought I had found them on the 1881 but it states Elizabeth was born Reading and there is a daughter, also named Elizabeth 18 yrs and born in Reading

Hi jan

I know you'd found the 1871 census, you said so

I put it up for reference purposes .... as I said in the posting!

it does help us to be able to see as much of the information on a census as possible, hence many of us "helpers" do put up "for reference" censuses if the person asking has not done so.

For example, you hadn't said he was a bricklayer ... that could be important in finding him in a later census (or on an emigrant list!).
