Hi,
I have several records showing place of abode as a house name on a particular road rather than a house number. I have searched one road and could not find the house name, so could not locate the right house. I guess the name has either been changed or is now a number, but the name did exist in 1961. The other road is just too long to search house by house, but I know the house name existed in 1940.
Are there any records available which cross reference house names with present day numbers? or has anyone got any other suggestions please.

House names don't change very often so if you found an old electoral list and saw the order of the names in the street and combined that with a present day search, you might be able to work out which house was which.
Some people still show their house names....in older houses this might be over the front door.
