I'm being very cheeky now and going to ask if anyone can eliminate the men that could be married to the other sister:
Ann Tryphena Kernick DOB 18.04.1810 married Henry Curnow, Joseph Phair or Henry White 3rd qtr. 1840.
Thanks

Ivy

I haven't ordered the certs. yet as between the two sisters there are eight prospective husbands and I was hoping to whittle them down a little first. I will now order Mary Clementina's to George Walton Warren and hopefully Ann Tryphena to ???

Linda

for ehaven's sake you don't need to do all that

Get the marriage reference from freebmd, with quarter, place and the two reference numbers

Then apply for the certificate in the ONE name of the sister

Don't mention the husbands name!

Reggie told you that earlier .... you can apply for a marriage certificate using only one name

In fact, it is easier unless you know exactly what name the otehr spouse was registered under.

if you make even one small spelling mistake in the spouse's name, they will not issue the certificate.

So go to www.gro.org.uk, apply for Mary Clementina Kernick certificate under her name alone!

Oh Dear,
I'm certainly not telling hubby, I guess you'll all know what his reaction will be!!! lol

I will order the death cert. for confirmation though, thanks Jim

SylviaInCanada

SylviaInCanada Report 11 Feb 2008 00:50

and then do the same for Ivy Kernick

it's much easier than having us digging away for something you could find out so easily.

and of course, the certificates are the only real proof

sylvia

SylviaInCanada

SylviaInCanada Report 11 Feb 2008 00:51

each certificate costs £7, and takes about a week to arrive

Sorry I'm just getting back to you now, Linda. (Have been away overnight.) I managed to track Abraham down on the 1851 - misspelt as Benniworth, I think. I'm pretty sure he came up as being married to an Ann.

Linda

Linda Report 11 Feb 2008 00:54

Okay Sylvia, No wonder this all takes me so long!!

I know I was told one name was enough but I don't really know what I was thinking when trying for the rest of the info.

Sorry everyone, I do try to take on board your advice but I'm a little slow, perhaps I'm going the same way as Mary

SylviaInCanada

SylviaInCanada Report 11 Feb 2008 00:55

why get the death certificate and not the marriage certificate??

particularly if it is her in the Lunatic Asylum in 1851

It may not be George who was the informant.

I'll get both certs. marriage and death. I would like to know the cause of death anyway. Long , long history of heart disease in the family.

Linda

Linda Report 11 Feb 2008 01:04

Thanks everyone, I will let you know the results.

Yup, as Kate says, Abraham eliminated:

Name: Abraham Bennsworth
Age: 34
Estimated Birth Year: abt 1817
Relation: Head
Spouse's Name: Eliza
Gender: Male
Where born: Christchurch, Surrey, England

Civil Parish: Lambeth
Ecclesiastical parish: Lambeth St Mary
County/Island: Surrey
Country: England

Registration district: Lambeth
Sub-registration district: Lambeth Church Second
ED, institution, or vessel: 22

Household schedule number: 19
Household Members:
Name Age
Abraham Bennsworth 34
Eliza Bennsworth 24

(or perhaps not via 1851 which would have Eliza marrying at 14?)
