I have entered the details of my rellie on freebmd to find her marriage, she is listed but the husband could be one of four men, can I whittle this down or will I have to send for each marriage cert. until I get the right one.

The marriage was 1840 so thought I'd try to trace through 1841 census but they don't appear to be there.

Thanks.

Could you post her name and marriage details so we can look?

We might be able to 'marry off' the other couples.

- and another option is familysearch which may have the parish registry entry for some of the four marriages

1851 census is probably a better place to look.........you get a more accurate idea of ages.....plus the birthplaces are recorded.

Do you have access to 1851?

Thanks Reg, yes I do have access but I need to find their married names first.

ErikaH

To order a marriage cert, you only need to enter the name of one person.............

You can search using first name, plus year and place of birth............then scroll through the results checking each possible surname

Gwyn, I'm not too sure that's the right one, I have Mary Clementina as DOB 03.05.1817 and the possible husbands as Ebenezer Comfort, John Arthur Copsey or George Walton, I got that info. from freebmd and LDS

Thank you Ivy and Sylvia. When I took the details down I must have left Warren off and took Walton as the surname.

SylviaInCanada

SylviaInCanada Report 11 Feb 2008 00:39

but of course

you need that bloomin' marriage certificate to be sure that you have the right couple

we're only digging in jelly and searching through fog, and making assumptions for you!

have you ordered the certificate?????

sorry

an Extracted record on LDS has been taken (extracted) from the actual record.

A submitted record has been submitted by a member of the Mormon Church ...... and can be very very wrong!

I believe the Mormons have to list at least 4 generations of their family in their ancestral record.

If they don't know, they make assumptions, or even make up the information.

So ... submitted records cannot be trusted.

It says at the bottom of the record which it is.
